Study the subtle morphing of this timeless pattern.

About the Design

Santorini originated as a hand drawing in pen and watercolor, all in blue. We had just visited Santorini and the morphing from dark blue to almost-white reminded me of the colors there. The pattern itself is based on traditional 10-fold Islamic patterns, and was study of sorts for me, to explore the relationships between several patterns in this family that share the same underlying structure.

I was so pleased with the result that I recreated it digitally so that I could offer it as a limited edition digital art in a variety of color schemes.

This version features the original blue color scheme that evoked the original title.

About the Edition

This piece is offered as a Limited Edition, meaning only a limited number will ever be printed. Specifically, I will offer 20 prints (known as an "edition size" of 20) in your choice of 4 sizes. Non-square designs also offer a choice of portrait or landscape orientation.

Each piece will include a signature and edition number on the back, as well as a printed Certificate of Authenticity. When all 20 are sold, no more will be made.

IMPORTANT: In most cases, your chosen work will be printed on demand the moment I receive your order, and may take up to 2 weeks to arrive, depending on the printer's current workload and your shipping location. Sometimes I may already have the size you choose in stock, in which case I will of course ship it immediately.

About the Material

This piece is printed via dye sublimation on aluminum with a semi-gloss finish, giving it a clean, glossy look without extreme reflections. This is an incredibly durable medium, suitable for collectors. There are other finishes available (ultra-gloss and satin) each of which have their pros and cons. You can read more on the Materials FAQ, and feel free to contact me directly if your question is not answered there.
