Starburst 8 is the second Fractal Islamic Pattern I ever designed. It is a pattern which, like its companion piece, Infinity Bloom 8, prominently features the eight-fold rosette commonly found in art and architecture throughout the Islamic world.
Gradual shading from bright yellow through deep garnet red give the piece an appearance of back lighting, drawing viewers into the center. The overall impression is of an outwardly expanding explosion, or an inwardly contracting tunnel, depending on the viewer and angle.
This first print of this piece is part of the permanent collection at the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University.
What people say:
This piece reminds me of amber and candlelight. The warmth of the color pattern feels like the sun is shining on me or that I am drinking a warm cup of tea in the colder months.
